The National Prosecutor's Office reported, that was established during the investigation, that the detainee is a professional sportsman of a first-league hockey club.
“In Poland, he carried out activities involving, among others,. on identifying critical infrastructure in several voivodeships. He kept the principals informed about the results of the reconnaissance on an ongoing basis, for which he was paid” – stated in the communication. The detained citizen of the Russian Federation has been in Poland since October 2021 r.
“Due to the need to secure the proper course of the proceedings, real fear of the suspect escaping, facing a severe penalty, the prosecutor of the Lublin Branch Department of the Department for Organized Crime and Corruption of the National Prosecutor's Office in Lublin submitted a request to the Court for the application of a preventive measure in the form of pre-trial detention” – provided by the National Prosecutor's Office.
The court agreed with the arguments of the prosecutor and Mr “indicating a high probability of the suspect committing the alleged acts” applied for temporary detention.

Suspects identified as foreigners from across the eastern border, conducted intelligence activities, but also propaganda against Poland and preparing acts of sabotage at the request of Russian intelligence.
Prosecutors do not rule out further arrests in this case.
