The Army urgently buys winter clothing after running out of stock due to shipment to Ukraine

The Army urgently processes the purchase of clothing and warm accessories for its units, after running out of stock due to the shipment to Ukraine of specially designed cold-weather uniforms that will allow fighters to face the harsh winter ahead.

Contract, with a budget of 5,8 millions of euros, has been launched just a week after the Ministry of Defense announced the delivery to the kyiv authorities of a significant load of uniforms and equipment for cold climates.

The Army details in the tender announcement that the purchase of new winter material is urgent “due to stock breakage and the need to urgently equip personnel displaced to the area of ​​operations”.

The file, with the title Procurement of items for the special equipment for extreme cold weather, contemplate the purchase of fleece-lined sweaters; gloves; boots, campaign uniforms, jacket and pants for extreme cold; mountain mittens; thick mountain socks; and ski goggles.

The contract is managed by the Headquarters of Economic Affairs of the Army Logistics Support Command through an open procedure and urgent processing. The deadline for submitting offers is 12 of September and the 18 of October will take place the opening of the economic proposals presented. The estimated value amounts to almost nine million euros, by including items for modifications and a possible extension.

The forecast is that the new winter clothes begin to arrive at the end of next October. Deliveries will last until the end of 2024. The tender notice only mentions the type of material and does not offer details on the number of units of each garment that will be purchased..

The package for Ukraine, divided into more than 1.600 pallets, will be shipped next september, as reported by the department headed by Margarita Robles. will be formed 30.000 uniforms and campaign for cold, 15.600 eachtones, 15.000 outdoor suits and several thousand complementary clothing and outerwear items.

Spain has also agreed to provide ammunition for field artillery pieces, combustible, armored vehicles (TOA M-113 ), point defense missile systems and basic training for Ukrainian forces in Spain.
